Customer just purchased a 2006 CL65 AMG from our used car section. $33,990
I say CP but that's just my opinion. $22K is a better number for one of these imo.
Next, Mercedes-Benz is slacking. (bad photo below)
Quick fault list:
-Fake vents on both sides
-Only the passenger side air dam in real
-The very bottom of the front bumper has a chrome trim (will get scratched a trillion times)
-Seat leather fading
-Lots of other cheapness touches Merc has been doing lately all while still being very expensive

Star Motor Cars? I used to live in Houston. Land of expensive rides rolling on cheap rims. And cheap rides rolling on expensive rims.

If you had told me that you could buy a 600HP luxury coupe wit ha 190MPH limited top speed for $22k a decade ago, I would have called you nuts.
Then again, upkeep and repairs on the CL65 AMG is really bad, isn't it?

$22k at auction, maybe. I'm playing around on cars.com to see what's up. I'm seeing the cheapest of the CL65s at $28k. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot.
There are some of the supercharged CL55s for as little as $15k.

One of the best modern Mercedes bodies imo, not with those wheels of course. I think your right about it being $10k too much.

I don't think Mid-2000's Mercs have aged well at all either.
Though it still blows me away how much the biturbo V12's have depreciated.
That's over %80 in 9 years.

They haven't! Go to any of the salt states. A very large chunk of Mercs from the DaimlerChrysler era ALL have some sort of rust peppered on them...Even the more recent models...

Edmunds.com just finished up a long term (1-year) roadtest with a 2005 AMG CL65. What a nightmare! The constant oil consumption and So so so many costly repairs to the engine and suspension. Good Lord! Edmunds.com 2005 AMG CL65 year of ownership.

But imagine how they'd look with just 1 vent, or no vents. It'd look horrible.

True. I honestly believe the worst offender are hood scoops that don't actually function since I believe that increases drag.

Well, that's not an entirely accurate. They were quoted $16,751 for a series of issues, but ended up narrowing down the problems and it "only" cost them $4600.

It's really more like 40% when you factor in the repairs and maintenance it will need as soon as you buy it.
